Coronavirus update 24.3.20

A statement from MD Jonathan Fielding:

Further to my previous updates, I write to update you on the position in regard to Falmouth Boat Co, access to the yard and current operations.

As a consequence of the Prime Minister’s instructions, last night, Falmouth Boat Co has ceased operations with immediate effect and all staff have been sent home.

While we continue to have some key personnel working directly for the NHS, all non-essential works have been paused and will remain so for the foreseeable future.

All usual communication channels remain open with admin and management contacts available as before – albeit perhaps a little delayed.

For our clients with works in progress, rest assured, anticipating last night’s announcement, we cleared down tooling etc. and made your boat, our workshops and the yard safe.  There will be regular inspections of the premises by our team on rotation and additional security measures have been put in place for this period.

As for general access to the yard, again as per government instructions for everyone to stay at home, this is now restricted to key personnel and in the event of an emergency.  This is clearly signed at the entrance to the yard for guidance and to act as a firm reminder.

For suppliers and contractors, clearly the same terms of access and restrictions apply.  Deliveries will be accepted on an item by items basis with the protocol for this being clearly displayed on our access gates.

The term unprecedented is a familiar one in these times, and these clear decisions we have taken as a company, like every company potentially damaging its business, have not been taken lightly.  They will, however, be under continuous review and we will do all we can to act as a responsible organisation to protect our staff and clients alike.

I truly appreciate all those who have been understanding during this time with comments of support and compliance with visiting restrictions to allow us to continue our work unabated for as long as has been possible.

I can also reassure everyone who has any association with the company, staff and friends, we will get back up and running as soon as we can in order to get your boats finished, ready and launched.

Further updates will follow as matters progress, however, please feel free to email enquiries@falmouthboat.co.uk or call and leave a message on our answering service 01326 374309 and we will respond as soon as we can.

Finally, and absolutely foremost, please take care of yourselves and your families.
