Collision damage to ferro-cement schooner

The puncture through the starboard side of the hull is clear
Vessel Type:
72ft Schooner
Project Type:

This 72ft schooner suffered extensive damage to the starboard side of the hull after a night-time collision with a trawler.

To add to complications the boat is built with ferro-cement. After temporary work against the demands of the tide, we sailed her back to Flushing. We removed the masts and the temporary fit out and are now removing the ferro-concrete from the high tensile steel framework. This is a complicated job due to the nature of working with ferro-concrete and we'll continue to post photos of progress.

The collision point in the starboard side of the hull
Extensive repair required
Temporary repair against the tide to sail her to Flushing
Looking down from the deck the impact is clear
The interior stripped back to ferro-cement and steel framework
The porthole remained in tact despite the shunt
Removing the masts early morning
The extensive repair continues
