This twin shaft motor boat offered a highly demanding challenge. She had sustained underwater damage to rudders, props, shafts, ‘P’ brackets, gearboxes and engines. She came with the added pressure of an incredibly tight timescale as she was needed for a charter for Plymouth Powerboat School.
To save essential time and ensure she made her charter, we sent a team of engineers to remove the stern gear, shafts and gearboxes in Plymouth prior to the boat arriving in the yard. We then drove them directly to Nottingham for repair.
We then had to align the engine without the original stern gear being present to set the new ‘P’ brackets – no mean feat. Using an unserviceable gearbox we aligned the whole drive train on both engines before finally refitting the original gearboxes once repaired.
We delivered Hippy Chick gleaming and ready for her charter exactly to timescale and budget as promised to the insurance company and owner.
The owner of Plymouth Powerboat School said: “We gave Falmouth Boat Co a demanding job with even more demanding time scales to repair underwater damage to our twin shaft motor cruiser. All aspects of the repair were completed to a very high standard, with excellent communications throughout. We would highly recommend them to any potential customer.”
