Mitzi
International One Design 30' Gentleman's Racing Yacht
Restoration

Mitzi is a beautiful International One Design 30' gentleman's racing yacht built in 1958 that had fallen into a severe state of disrepair. As you can see from the 'before' photos below, her wood, paint and varnish work were in extreme need of expert restoration.

We dedicated ourselves to restoring Mitzi to her former glory, with specialist attention to hullworks, deckworks and varnishwork. The photos below show the extent of her beautiful restoration.

Pinuccia
8m Classic Yacht
Refurbishment

The elegant Pinuccia has a unique and fascinating history so we were delighted to be invited to refurbish her. During her winter lay-up with us much of the work was focused on finishing her to the right standard for such a pedigree yacht. The whole project needed a sizeable variety of different specialist skills and disciplines, all of which we have in house.

Kingfisher
22' Gentleman's Open Launch Designed by McGruer in 1920s
Repair, Restoration

Kingfisher is made from Honduras mahogany on oak and is varnished inside and out.  After nearly 100 years four planks split on the port side and needed replacing.  There were two main challenges.

Honduras mahogany is a banned import and therefore no longer available.  Different woods had to be considered to get the closest possible match.  The varnish is such high quality that exceptional treatment was needed to match the alien wood to the existing planks. The repairs are invisible with the colour of the timber and depth of shine to the varnish being a perfect match.

Pirate
12m Gentleman's Fast Motor Yacht Built by Brooke Marine of Lowestoft in 1973
Engineering, Restoration

A bad delivery journey resulted in Pirate’s engines being wrecked and irreparable even before they caught fire.  She has racing pedigree as her sister Ocean Pirate has come fourth in a Round Britain Race so, despite being declared a constructive total loss, the owner asked Falmouth Boat Co. to change the engines.

Orinoco Flo
42’ Wing Mast Rigged Catamaran
Hull Repair, Mast and Rig Installation

The 42’ catamaran Orinoco Flo lost her mast about 850 miles out in the Atlantic during 2012.  A stay broke which snapped the mast, sending it overboard and damaging one of the hulls in the process.

Enroute from Antigua, she was found 85 miles from the Isles of Scilly and towed by lifeboat to Falmouth Boat Co.

This twin shaft motor boat offered a highly demanding challenge.  She had sustained underwater damage to rudders, props, shafts, ‘P’ brackets, gearboxes and engines.  She came with the added pressure of an incredibly tight timescale as she was needed for a charter for Plymouth Powerboat School.

We completed a complex repair job to a 47 foot yacht in Greece after travelling through 11 countries over three days.

The yacht had run aground and suffered a sizeable keel impact and significant internal damage as a result.  In addition, the bulkheads were set adrift and the laminates were destroyed from the judder.
